The three-month journey of the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery to Mt. Sinai; the immediate founding of a Covenant between God and the Jewish people, rooted in the offer and acceptance of the Ten Commandments; the instruction to begin the barley harvest in the third month of the year-these all come to together in a single "minor" Jewish holiday.
