Unitarian Universalism - A Faith Tradition? - Andrew Pfrenger - Sunday, September 24, 20239/19/2023 Celebrated UU theologian Forrest Church once said, “Faith is the commitment of one's consciousness to beliefs for which one has no sensory evidence.” Yet, as a community known for our inquisitiveness and open-mindedness, we Unitarian Universalists often navigate our quest for understanding by embracing evidence and reason, dismissing out of hand that which falls short of our rigorous standards of inquiry.
Join us this weekend as we explore the nature of faith within Unitarian Universalism and delve into some fundamental questions. We'll probe the intricate relationship between spirituality and faith in a liberal, often humanist, religious landscape. We'll ponder the forces that shape our faith and consider the shape we hope to give it going forward. And in contemplating whether our endeavors at UUCO can be aptly described as religious, we'll navigate the very essence of our congregation’s identity. Together, let’s celebrate the distinctive beauty of Unitarian Universalism, a faith that empowers us to embrace our true selves and illuminates our path in an ever-changing world.
