Did you know that in at least one spiritual tradition, November is the celebration of the power contained in gratitude? On November 20, journey with Vicki Reithel and discover how gratitude heals and enlarges the world we share together. Explore famous masters who laud the multi-faceted expression of gratitude.
"If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough." - Meister Eckhart "You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance." - Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melody Beattie

Irene Kaufmann and Enrique Cotelo are UM Spanish lecturers and known in our community in other capacities as well: Irene as a vital component of the Mockingbird Early Music Ensemble, and Enrique as an instructor of Latin American history when not teaching Spanish. Irene and Enrique traveled the Way of St. James (el Camino de Santiago) in summer 2016. The journey took them 500 miles and 30 days on foot as they followed the path traced by pilgrims over the past millennium. On November 6 Irene and Enrique will join us to describe this journey and share insights into one of the oldest and most beloved pilgrimages in the Western world.
