A mountain setting appeals to many of us, inviting prospects of inspiring vistas, quiet hiking paths, and a ‘place away’ from busier environments. For UUs who have experienced it, The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center in the Blue Ridge Mountains is just such an appealing place! Owned by Unitarian Universalists but open to all, ‘The Mountain’ has much to offer all ages! This morning we will hear its inspiring story and learn of its programs and retreat opportunities for spring, summer and fall!

This Sunday morning we will participate in a service created to share with all UU congregations across the country!  The Side With Love initiative, a public advocacy campaign of our UUA that seeks to harness love’s power to stop oppression, offers a Sunday service each year, and we are joining in this one for 2022.

Expect some fine music and words from voices across our UUA community, with a focus on the South and Atlanta!

Looking for poem readers for the February 13 service!
 
Valentine’s Day, UUA’s Side with Love, and Black History Month all come in February. An additional theme for this February at UUCO is our month-long focus on widening the circle. We’re looking for people to share poetry connecting to any of these themes. Or it could be a poem that you engage with spiritually. Would you like to read a poem of your choosing during the service, and then say a few words about its meaning for you? Shorter poems rather than complete epics are preferred, to allow more voices to be heard! If you'd like to incorporate music (singing or with instruments), very awesome! But not required. If you’d like to participate in this poetic celebration, please get in touch with Luanne Buchanan by February 9, [email protected].

Susannah will lead a meditation and contemplation on being present to the sacred aliveness of the now moment. Nothing to do and nowhere to be but here and now. When we relax into the potency of the moment, Grace, a sacred sense of aliveness, emerges. 

bio: Susannah Furr, M.Ed., a native of Oxford, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 30 years’ experience as a counselor and in the healing arts. She owns and manages private counseling practices in Cary, NC, and Oxford, MS, with services including: counseling sessions, intuitive consultations, meditation training, teaching workshops, leading retreats, and initiating others into Reiki. Susannah recently completed a year-long initiation process emerging as an Empowered Solar Priestess for the purpose of aligning with and serving the Sacred Feminine at this pivotal time on our planet.
