This intergenerational service led by Andy and Wendy Pfrenger will combine joyous music with contemplative space and opportunities to work with your hands as we prepare to decorate the sanctuary for the December holidays. Join us for reflections on Hanukkah, Christmas, and the many small ways in which we each make – and remake – the world through our actions.

This time at the end of November, after Thanksgiving and before Christmas, can feel like a personal “between time,” a time of transition, a time of waiting and a time of wondering. It may feel that we are in a “between time” in our culture and in our country where the norms of how we do things have been challenged on many levels and where the outcome of the next presidential election will have enormous consequences. We’ll explore what it means to live in such a time and to continue to be engaged and present even when there is much uncertainty around us.

During this service we all will join in a collaborative re-telling of Stone Soup, a traditional folktale found in many parts of the world that helps us to think about our place in a community and how we can each be more welcoming and giving. This begins with recognizing the gifts, great and small, which we have to share and an appreciation for what can be accomplished when we all come together. You are welcome to bring small amounts of any food item you'd like added to our own "stone soup", which will be shared following the service.
