This Sunday’s service will be led by June Jameson and is an inter-generational service. The service will be on the pebble meditation by Thich Nhat Hahn. Please bring 5 special pebbles if you have them- There will also be pebbles provided. June will lead us through the Buddhist practice of grounding ourselves using five pebbles. People attending by zoom may want to gather five small pebbles or marbles prior to the service.

Dr. Jason Hoeksema will join us this Sunday to talk about the mission and vision of Delta Windbirds, a Mississippi non-profit dedicated to encouraging creation of high-quality stopover wetland habitat for birds on private working lands, to preserving the best natural wetland habitats, and to foster awareness of the value of wetlands for birds and people.

In these fraught times we U Us can ill afford to loose our sense of humor and we can learn something here from our Mormon friends who chartered planes from Salt Lake City to watch themselves being made fun of on Broadway in the hit play The Book of Mormon.

In addition to being UUCO's Office Administrator, Sandra is a clinical supervisor at a mental health agency. Sandra has been with the UUCO congregation off and on for many years, dating all the way back to the beginning when UUCO was meeting at the Union on campus, until finally settling into her current position with UUCO in 2014. Sandra will bring us a message of hope and resilience as she shares her journey to healing.

We will gather to celebrate the grand opening of our new playground with outdoor games, food, and fun! Please dress for a picnic, but don't let the heat scare you away! Indoor seating will also be available (although food will stay outside). Our congregation thrives on our intergenerational relationships- we look forward to celebrating the creation of a play space for our children together! Perhaps we will even hear some memories of playgrounds past!
The fine print: Hot dogs and lemonade provided! Bring your favorite side (or main!) if you are so inclined. Personal cups and plates are welcome (if you are avoiding using plastic, for example) but we will have plates, cups, and silverware.
