Ministry of Presence - Chaplain Joe Vernon Young - Sunday, May 31, 2020

5/25/2020

Chaplain Joe Vernon Young (named after both grandfathers) has been Pastoral Care director at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi since 2010.  Prior to that, he did mission work in Liberia, and served as a minister in different parts of the South.  Chaplain Young plans to talk with us about the “Ministry of Presence,” when he will incorporate a poem by Wendell Berry [see below] into his message.

THE LARGER CIRCLE
By Wendell Berry

“We clasp the hands of those that go before us,
And the hands of those who come after us.
We We enter the little circle of each other’s arms,
And the larger circle of lovers, whose hands are joined in a dance,
And And the larger circle of all creatures,
Passing in and out of life, who move also in a dance,

To a music so subtle and vast that no ear hears it
Except in fragments.”
