On Sunday, January 3, 2016 we will be honored to have Dr. Sullivan-Gonzalez as our Sunday service speaker. He will be presenting thoughtful insights on how to bridge across “divides” and have civil and real conversations with those who hold different beliefs and ideologies to our own. Dr. Sullivan-Gonzalez is the Dean of the University of Mississippi Honors College, as well as a Professor of Latin American History at the University. Additionally, he is the Presbyterian Pastor of a small church near Batesville, Mississippi. And, just off the press is his new book, entitled, The Black Christ of Esquipulas. Religion and identity in Guatemala (U of Nebraska Press, 2016).Please join us on the 3rd to welcome Douglass to our congregation. Mari Kuhnle will be the Service Leader.

Edie Love will be speaking on Sunday, December 6th about her internship focused on poverty and homelessness. She will explore Mark 12:38-44, and how this passage from the Bible relates to today's society. (Hint: It may not be what you've traditionally heard.)
Edie Love is a candidate for UU ministry and a 5th year seminary student from Memphis. She is currently doing an internship through which she is endeavoring to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness and poverty. |
