Elaine Gelbard, Service Leader

Unitarian Universalists have a long history of and contemporary beliefs of being actively engaged in social justice. Why put that "love" word in it? Let us look at why we want to keep the "L" word so central to our work and identity as people of faith.

Standing on the Side of Love (SSL) is a public advocacy campaign, whose mission is to harness love's power to stop oppression.  It was created to launch Unitarian Universalist values into the world as boldly as possible.

Currently, Standing on the Side of Love has active campaigns across the country in issues including immigration justice, voting rights (Moral Mondays), LGBTQ issues and marriage equality, anti-bullying, climate change, anti-bigotry against Muslims and racial justice.  The campaign provides support and resources for congregations and other groups who want to make a public stand to increase love and justice in the world.

Wear your Standing on the Side of Love t-shirt (if you have one)!  Our Give Away the Plate will go to support this campaign!!   More information is available at:  http://standingonthesideoflove.org.
