Many Unitarian Universalists celebrate an Ingathering Water Service at the start of a year. Water speaks to our many interconnections with each other and with the earth. “Water is elemental and primary, calling forth feelings of awe and reverence. Acknowledging that the ocean is considered by many to be the place from which all life on our planet came, and water is essential for all life.”
Our Story for all Ages will be “We are Water Protectors. “ by Carol Lindstrom. “Inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America, “We Are Water Protectors” issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth’s water from harm and corruption―it is bold and lyrical picture book written by Carole Lindstrom and vibrantly illustrated by Michaela Goade.” A powerful documentary about the Water Protectors is available entitled “AWAKE, A DREAM FROM STANDING ROCK.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCg1DsRFyl We will share in our own simple ritual for this intergenerational service. Bring a small jar of water if you would like to add to our bowls of water. And we will affirm that life- giving water must be protected!! Everyone is invited to stay afterwards to enjoy some cold water and also some cookies!
