Dr. Rebecca Jernigan will share a personal remembrance centering on her relationship with her Aunt Ophelia Eubank (Aunt “Petie”), one of 8 children of her Great Grandpa Wilson. Aunt Petie lived to be 100 years old and never tired of telling stories
Dr. Jernigan will be joined by Dr. John Daigle, Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Mississippi. Also an accomplished guitarist/folk singer, he will share songs from the old days and about the old ones. Award -winning storyteller Rebecca Jernigan uses her experience as an actress and playwright to bring to life classical and original literature. She has performed and offered workshops throughout the region as well as for the DODDS schools in Europe and Bahrain. Dr. Jernigan works with the Mississippi Humanities Council and the Mississippi Arts Commission as storyteller and scholar for literacy programs in English and Spanish. Her film credits include The Client, Ode to Billy Joe, and the 2016 film Texas Heart.
