National Coming Out Day began to be recognized in 1988 as a way of reducing the stigma and anxiety often associated with the "coming out" experience. Some of us are intimately familiar with this experience, whether as someone who has "come out." or as an ally, a friend, or even a family member of someone who "came out" to them. Part of this service will be devoted to the sharing of a "coming out" experience, part will be devoted to embracing our shared spiritual connection through the UU principles, but all will be done in an effort to be in community with each other.
