Minister's Musings
By Rev. Sarah Osborne
Can you still hear the song? The one sung for you
when you were born...
Listen carefully ... Can you hear it still? A song of possibility.
A reminder that we still have time
to be who and what we need to be…- “Song of the Universe,” Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti
My mother liked to call me on my birthday at exactly 8:06am and say, “Well…it was at this exact moment you were born. Happy birthday, daughter.” Thank heavens, I was born at a reasonable hour. Since she passed, I miss this call from her. I think my mother heard a song of possibility when I was born and so she took to reminding me of it each year. I will especially miss that she won’t be able to ring me on my 50th birthday this month to remind me again, but I think I’m hearing my own song well enough now. In fact, I’m hearing my song so well, I just know there are infinite possibilities for me, for all of us. And we’re just getting started.
My song is calling me to dream, collaborate, and center love. My song is a refrain reminding me to cherish the wisdom of our children and the energy of our elders, to work for those whose voices need amplifying, and protect those whose lives are being threatened. My song has a beat that says, “what if, what if, what if” as a pulse of possibilities for a better way for all of us. My song calls me to imagine abundance and joy and equality. My song is saying, “use your voice for good...there is still much time to change the world.”
“There is more love somewhere…and I’m gonna keep on till I find it…”
With you on the journey,
Rev. Sarah
