Oxford-Lafayette-University Community Resources


Food / Housing Insecurity:
Interfaith Compassion Ministry (ICM) – 662-281-1002 – 1918 University Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655 - assists individuals and families through crisis situations by providing for their basic needs such as food, shelter, utilities, medications, and transportation. ICM is our community’s primary agency that assists homeless people by providing counseling, temporary housing, food, and stabilization in new living arrangements.

Doors of Hope - 662-234-1100 - 924 Van Buren Ave, Oxford, MS 38655 - The purpose of Doors of Hope Transition Ministries includes, but is not limited to, guiding homeless families and at-risk homeless families in Lafayette County, Mississippi toward self-reliance and stability through a holistic individualized approach that includes life-skills training, mentoring, and supportive housing.

The Pantry – 662-832-8001 – 713 Molly Barr Rd, Oxford, MS 38655 - The Pantry is a service that provides food for needy families in the Oxford-Lafayette community. Wednesday hours are 9-11 for 65 and under. Thursday hours are 9-11 for 65 and older.
 
Protection / Community:
Family Crisis Services of Northwest Mississippi – 662-234-9929 – P.O. Box 1698, Oxford, MS 38655 - assists and supports victims of violent crime and strengthens as well as stabilizes families. The agency provides 24-hour crisis intervention, counseling, education, legal advocacy, and referral services for victims of child abuse and sexual assault as well as friends and family of homicide victims.

University of Mississippi Gay-Straight Alliance provides advocacy and education to the Oxford and University communities, and works to increase tolerance and respect for all sexual orientations/identities. It includes Lambda, OUTLaw, Hear Me Out, and the Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition.  

Ole Miss Allies is a network of informed faculty and staff who are willing to be visibly supportive of students who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and who will work to foster a campus climate in which all students, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, may feel safe, supported, respected, and affirmed.

North Mississippi Rural Legal - (NMRLS) – 662-234-2918 - 493 Ryland Way, Oxford, MS 38655- is a non profit tax-exempt organization providing free civil representation to low-income persons in the northern 39 counties of Mississippi.
